Dear Christy and Eric.
We often think of you and wish we could get together again someday! We have had all kinds of unexpected "adventures" and I am finally starting to get a little caught up and am glad to be able to get in touch with you. I will try to catch you be phone too as it would be great to be able to talk for a bit before you head out on your great adventure. The blog is great - keep it coming! Wishing you all the best.

For underway e-mail and very slow Internet access we are using the Iridium Sat phone. Also for e-mail we are using the SSB with Sailmail. We are getting Grib and weather files from MaxSea by e-mail. Also weather faxes through the SSB. We are probably going to get Ocens too. Finally we are using a weather router, OMNI, for our passage to the Pacific.

Also we got a great deal a used NeraPro 1000. We will be using that at various times for Internet on land. The NeraPro links to the BGAN Imarasat system, which is not active in the South Pacific yet.

I have used Skype and it works nicely. You get very inexpensive voice communication.

Eric,
are you communicate with email mostly via sat telefone? We work with sailmail for email communication. do you have expirience about this?
How do you get the weather forecast? Is it also via sat? Sorry, I ask you again for this points, but we have not every time a optimum of communication on our Swan at sea. Perhaps your answer will help us on our way starting May 01, 07 from St Maarten via Bermudas and NY to Newport to start with a new program.
Pls. let me know, when you are in the Med. If you need, I will give you than for the turkey area some informations etc.
I will follow you via www .
All the best for chris and you

I like to say we have discovered new levels to being busy! Getting the boat ready and getting everything wrapped up on land is really time consuming.

We've been wondering what happened to you guys. Happy to hear that you are just busy and that everything is on track for your adventure. We finally moved Crossroads from Ensenada to San Diego and will be leaving for Catalina this Thursday. Give us a call if you get a minute, otherwise good luck!
