Departure is Saturday April 28th

After much debate we are committing to a departure date and time from San Diego to Nuka Hiva: Saturday, April 28th at noon. Yes, this is a bit later than thought, but we want to make sure we are ready. Weather should still be favorable and we will have plenty of fuel.

On the 20 day passage will be Eric, Christi, and Richard. Richard is a seasoned boater and owner of another Nordhavn 43. We are privileged and pleased to have Richard aboard.

We invite you to visit around 11am to say farewell and bon voyage to the crew of Kosmos. We are at the Kona Kai Marina in the G section (see diagram).

  1. Eric & Christi,

Sorry we missed you when we were in SD. Crossroads made it to Ventura (via a few days in Avalon) without incident.

Glad to see you will soon be on your way. Best wishes for calm seas and fair winds. Keep in touch!

    Regards,

    Stan & Diane Heirshberg

  2. I have been following your preparations for the trip- I know this has to be an exciting and possibly terrifying time. Godspeed on your journey and please keep us posted as you begin your adventure!

  3. My wife and I have been seriously considering a 43. We will be following your adventure closely and hope you have a safe and FUN trip!!!! God Speed. We wish we were in your boat shoes!!!

  4. Eric and Christi,

Erick and John wish you the very best and will be following your journeys. Our boat is only two months from completion and shipping and we hope to follow in your wake. Thanks for letting us aboard Kosmos when you were commissioning. We learned so much and ultimately decided to join the Nordhavn family. Bon voyage!

  5. Hey amigos.

I live in México. I am a Nrdhavn fan and will some day be doing the same. First I want to say a deep “gracias” because to be able to share through your blog your adventure is to say the least extraordinary.

Next, I send you blessings and a very warm mexican “buen viento”. I will (somehow) be travelling with kosmos.

    Gracias!

    Raul.

Please be careful! Have a wonderful time! This is an adventure of a life time and you are doing it so young in life. I envy you two. Please keep up your blog daily (as you can) and get some scrappin done!
    Love ya two!

  7. Are you going to swim? I mean when you are 9 days out a sea are you going to dive off the boat and take a swim?

  8. I usually like to see the bottom when I swim, so probably not for me. Maybe Richard or Christi will do it. It would be pretty neat thing to do a thousand miles from land in any direction.

  9. I have been following your progress. I love the Nordhavn boats and hope someday soon I will get a 43 or 47. I cannot wait till you publish the detail preparation work you have been involved, and any additional equipments you have added.

    Have a safe trip.

    Bon voyage!

    Sam

  10. Eric & Christi,

Thanks for showing us your yacht and sharing your adventure with us. We only wish we had more range on our 30 ft Doral (Big Deal) so we could join you! We’ll miss you around the dock!

  11. Less than one week away – Lisa, Joella, and I send your regards – what a wonderful experience – I am looking forward to reading the blog!

Good luck – best wishes and Bon Voyage!

  12. Eric and Christi

We wish you calm winds and seas. We are currently waiting for a weather window from Marsh Harbor, Bahamas to Beaufort, NC, which is a slightly shorter trip than yours! We should be at sea at the same time though and will think of you beginning your great journey. Hopefully we will see you an anchorage one day. In the meantime travel carefully.

    Best regards,

  13. We’ll be following your adventures online. What an amazing, brave choice for a journey!

  14. Hi Eric and Christi,
I wish you all the best, good luck and “every time one handbroadly water under the keel”.
I will follow your adventures and hope we will see us next year if you are in the Med.
    Best regards
    Peter
