One of the frequently asked question these days is “Now that you have completed your worldwide circumnavigation, what are you going to do with Kosmos?” It is a reasonable question, yet it has been hard for us to answer. We hope to go cruising again, but at this point there is no way to say exactly when, or exactly what kind of cruising we will be doing (i.e. short coastal hops or long blue water trips). Parts of us thinks we should sell her and buy a new boat when we are ready to cruise again, and part of us thinks it would be a mistake to let her go. Why are we hesitant about selling her and simply buying another one in the future?

  • She is a proven boat.
  • Her systems have been carefully maintained.
  • Hull 18 is one of the last naturally aspirated Lugger LP668D engines with the easier access engine room. The newer 1066T’s exhaust angles are perpendicular to the engine instead of straight back. This makes it more awkward to get around to the aft of the engine and to the wing engine and generator.
  • Kosmos is loaded with options, gear, and capability for just about any scope of a trip.

If you want to know more about Kosmos the Our Boat page has lots of details, but let us know if you have any additional questions. If you have not been a blog reader, take a look at some of the Boat Technical posts. With Kosmos, you know exactly what you are getting. We have been detailed as possible about the performance of all the equipment, maintenance and problems we have experienced. Remember, in remote places our lives literally depended on this boat, so we were careful to keep her in top shape.
