{"id":10470,"date":"2025-02-24T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-24T13:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/?p=10470"},"modified":"2025-03-12T16:31:27","modified_gmt":"2025-03-12T16:31:27","slug":"pizza-gelato-and-protestors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/2025\/02\/24\/pizza-gelato-and-protestors\/","title":{"rendered":"Pizza, Gelato and Protestors"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Saturday, February 15, Christi decided to take a video of the sunrise so everyone could hear all the different birds in the marina:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_0748.mov\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We went for a walk along the <a href=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/2025\/02\/10\/jungle-walk\/\">jungle loop.<\/a> We usually see coatis, but there were even more out than normal.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_0753.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We also saw several capuchin monkeys in the trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/capuchin-in-tree.mov\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On our <a href=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/2025\/02\/20\/going-to-shopping-centers-and-the-secret-beach\/\">last trip to town<\/a>, the shuttle driver had told Eric that he\u2019d pick people up from the shopping center with the dentist, called El Rey Sol, as long as it was pre-arranged ahead of time. So today we caught the 1:00 shuttle and were dropped off at El Rey Sol.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We had Barrio Pizza for lunch, which was surprisingly good. On the drink menu, they had <a href=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/2025\/02\/11\/underwater-rescue\/\">raspadura <\/a>in lime or passionfruit flavors. We ordered one of each. The lime was essentially <a href=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/2022\/08\/22\/santa-rosalia-days-2-3\/\">limonada<\/a> with a weird under taste. The passionfruit was a blend of juices, also with a weird under taste. Eric thinks the under taste may be malt.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_0764.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We went to Gelatisimo for dessert. Their gelato was great.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_6838.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On Sunday morning, we could hear the howler monkeys screaming. Knowing they were close, Eric and Christi went searching for them. They were behind the <a href=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/2025\/02\/10\/jungle-walk\/\">church<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/two-howler-monkeys-climbing-up-tree.mov\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the afternoon, Keith played D &amp; D with other kids.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We heard reports that on Sunday there was a protest in Colon near the bridge, essentially blocking traffic to\/from the bridge. We were told it was the same group that had tried to take over the <a href=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/2025\/02\/12\/the-howler-monkeys-and-gatun-bridge\/\">abandoned housing in Ft. Sherman<\/a>, and realized that we never posted an updated about that situation: We have no idea what happened. When we\u2019d returned from <a href=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/2025\/02\/14\/flying-back-to-panama-and-the-ocean-posse-party\/\">San Diego<\/a>, the protestors were gone and the gate had been chained shut.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_0757.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Monday was yet another quiet day. We did school and chores in the morning.
