We had a great time in Dana Point on Sunday. We had a nice lunch at RJ’s Caf\u00c3\u00a9<\/a> on the corner Golden Lantern and Dana Harbor Drive. We like RJ’s for several reasons. For example: Easy access and parking, yet still right across the street from the marina. They have a nice menu with lots of choices at very reasonable prices. The food is really good. And finally RJ and his wife are very nice people. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

We had lunch with fellow 43 owners who recently\u00a0travelled to\u00a0Mexico on their new 43. Their stories re-affirmed our notions about what to expect and what to look forward to. They met wonderful people and saw beautiful sights. They related how safe and comfortable they felt with the boat on their fabulous 4000 mile trip. Later in the day we spent time with the family we mentioned in our previous entry. Every time we get to talk with other owners we pick up helpful tips and ideas. It was a very educational day.<\/p>\n

Alas we did not take any pictures this visit, which is unusual for us. There was not any visual progress on Kosmos this last week, but this was not unexpected. Sometime the work goes in spurts. We did see some parts for the rigging stacked up, and we are hoping that goes up soon.<\/p>\n

We want to restate something we have in our FAQ: If we do our grand plan then most of our time (~80%) will be on land. See this fancy picture we made to illustrate the ratio of time on land and time at sea:<\/p>\n

For some reason some people think we will be always be on the boat and out at sea, perhaps trying to break some kind of record. Maybe because those extreme attempts make the news and people think that is the only kind of thing people do on long range boats. We are not out to break any records or test the limits of human endurance. We are going out to explore the world, meet new people, spend time together, and expand our horizons.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
