They dinghied 1/2 mile north to a road, then walked another mile to Alnor’s Bake shop. Here were some photos from the walk.

Looking back at the anchorage from where they landed the dinghy. It was only slightly sweetened and had only a hint of coconut flavor, and could have been easily mistaken for plain white.

He also bought Bahamian cakes, which the baker told Eric was a type of coffee cake. Texture-wise, they were a cross between a buttermilk biscuit and a fluffy cookie. They were also only slightly sweet, and they had a strong ginger flavor — like a super fluffy gingerbread cookie with less sugar. They were a little bit dry.

Eric bought pineapple tarts and coconut tarts (the tarts looked the same except for the jam color). These were made with the Bahamian cake dough and had a layer of the respective jams. This added to both the moisture and sweetness, making it a bona-fide dessert item.

He also bought something that looked like a big, fluffy empenada, and he couldn’t remember its name. The dough was the same as the coconut loaf and the filling was the same as the coconut tart. So it was still a dessert item, but not as sweet as the tarts.

In addition, he bought banana bread, pound cake, chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal cookies.

In the afternoon, Eric and Keith went to one of the boats for a D & D session. In the evening was another beach gathering onshore. This time, all three of us went. Sadly, the sunset was blocked by a big cloud, but it did make for a neat lighting effect.

It started raining as we were getting ready to call it a night, and we were happy that Komos got a wash down.

Thursday, April 3 — In the morning, Eric hitched a ride with two other cruisers Taylor and Brenda, to make a bakery run.
