Monday, April 7 — As mentioned yesterday,<\/a> we’d gone to bed extremely late. And, thanks to the uncomfortable motion in the anchorage, we didn’t sleep well. Eager to get out of Fernandez Bay ASAP, we were up at 0600 and were pulling up the anchor at 0630.\u00a0This was captured the moment before the sun peeked over the horizon (taken while we were underway).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The red dot on the lower right was Fernandez Bay, and the red dot in the middle left was the anchorage that we were going to in southern Rock Sound. It was a sunny day with scattered clouds. The ride over was pleasant, but only because we were going with the wind and waves. The swells were 2 – 4 feet at about 2 – 5 seconds and the wind waves about 1 – 3 feet. There were some white caps in the bay from the wind chop. Had we been going the other direction, it would have not been a fun ride. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We arrived at the anchorage at about 1830. Since it was hard to tell what Rock Sound looked like in the above image, we’ve put in another map of just the bay. The wind had shifted to be from the south-east today (Monday) and was going to shift again to be from the south tomorrow (Tuesday). The red dots towards the bottom was where we’d anchored, which had great protection from those wind directions. We anchored in about 8-feet of water. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were happy to see that, in addition to Haste Away, there were two more boats with families that we’d met in Bight Bay<\/a>. As hoped, this anchorage was calm. We were exhausted from the late night\/early morning. Christi made a quick dinner and we went to bed early. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday morning, we were pleasantly surprised when we got a text with this beautiful photo of Kosmos in the sunrise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday was a lovely day. The wind did come from the forecasted direction, but it wasn’t nearly as strong as had been forecast. After school and morning chores, the kids gathered at the little inlet just south of the anchorage, where they spent the afternoon playing in the water. The water was 81 degrees Fahrenheit, so it was a nice temperature for swimming. The parents came and went, so the adults got to hang out, together, too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
