We exited the ride right at 1000 and went straight to the river just as it opened. Today, the waves from the wave machine were noticeably bigger, there were a lot more breaking waves, and the ride moved faster. A couple of days ago, Christi had overheard a patron complaining to a lifeguard about the wave machine being turned down. The lifeguard had said there’d been too many accidents. The patron had said he understood why Atlantis needed to do that since, over the last few weeks, the Bahamas had been full of drunk, stupid 18 year old high school seniors on their spring breaks (the legal drinking age in the Bahamas is 18). We were wondering if Atlantis felt comfortable turning up the wave machine now that most spring breaks were over.

At 1230, we started scoping out food options. One of the employees told us that the round building across the lagoon from Shake Shack was a Mexican restaurant called Crocodilo. Since Mexican food was our favorite, we were sold!

From the waterslides, we walked over one of the lagoon bridges to the back the lagoon/ocean. Just to give you a sense of how big the resort was, the first shot was looking back at the main hotel from just beyond the bridge, and the second photo was of the restaurant, taken from the bridge.

Yesterday, we’d seen the restaurant from the resort. From that viewpoint, the building almost appeared to be an island in the middle of a lagoon. As we neared the back of the restaurant, we saw a tube under the water in the lagoon, which indicated to us that there was another aquarium under the water.

From the outside, the restaurant looked huge, but it didn’t have nearly as much seating as we’d expected. The kitchen was in the center, a bar surrounded the kitchen, and tables ringed the edge.

By the time we’d arrived, it was 1300, right in the heart of the lunch rush, and we had to wait a long time for a table. While we were waiting, we went downstairs and yes, there was indeed an aquarium down there.

The food was pretty good, but not what we would call authentic Mexican. A couple of birds parked themselves on a rock next to our table and watched us eat for pretty much the entire meal.

After we finished eating, we went downstairs to the aquarium.

Near the end of the lagoon, there was a Y intersection. We took the left fork, which didn’t go much farther before the walkway sloped up to ground level, giving us close up views of the surface of the lagoon.

We were near the northeast corner of the resort. It was an aquarium similar to the one by Shake Shack, but smaller, and the decorations were much more simple. This one was meant to feel like we were SCUBA diving through a cave.

It also had a few smaller tanks inset into the opposite wall.

The aquarium let out at a walkway near the back of the hotel. In between the aquarium entrance and the hotel entrance was a pond that was divided by a ridge. One side of the pond was full of rays.

The other side had small turtles.

When we walked into the hotel, we found ourselves in yet another kid’s Barbie area. This was a photo of the turtle pond taken from inside the hotel. We were near the area where the golf cart dropped us off — by the kiosk selling park tickets. We made the long walk back to the waterslides.

By 1600, we were all getting tired. We left the park at 1630. We went back to boat and Christi made dinner. Here was the sunset.

According to Eric’s watch, over the last three days, Eric and Keith walked 25 miles and climbed 42 sets of stairs. While Christi didn’t ride as many of the slides as the men did, and thus climbed a less stairs, it wasn’t much less. We were exhausted and went to bed early.

Wednesday, April 23, 2025 — We arrived at the park at 0930 so we could go on The Serpent Slide before the rest of the rides opened.
