We believe this was an Atlantic horseshoe crab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_8844.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>These moon jellyfish were common in the Chesapeake and had kept us from trying to swim in the water. The tops of their heads don&#8217;t have stingers, just the tentacles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_8848.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>From there, it branched out into species that lived in other region. One of the fun exhibits was on anemones. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_6789.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Another fun exhibit were the Puffin birds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_6810.mov\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most interesting displays was the Amazon river forest because it had such a diverse array of both plants and creatures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_6844.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_6819.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_6835.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_8850.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_8853.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The next tank also had some interesting creatures. There is a green boa to the left, two green waxy tree frogs to the middle-left, and a red poison dart frog on the trunk below the green frogs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_6854.mov\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There was a carcass from a 50-ton fin whale suspended from the ceiling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_8849.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The path took us up an escalator to a rooftop tropical rain forest. It was a two-story forest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_6858.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The bottom floor had tanks with aquatic creatures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_6862.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The second story platform offered close up views of the creatures that lived in the trees. And they were spectacular!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_8856.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_8858.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_8859.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">two-toed sloth<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_8861.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">scarlet ibis<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_8862.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>From the rooftop platform, we descended back down to the rainforest floor, which had a line with small tanks displaying creatures that were too small to see in the wild (and some too poisonous to let out).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_8863.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">dyeing poison dart frog<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_8864.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">dyeing poison dart frog<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_8866.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We exited the rooftop rainforest. Back in the building, we found ourselves at the top of a huge multi-story tank. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_6900.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We walked down a ramp surrounded on all sides by the massive fish tank. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_6902.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>So many cool creatures swam by.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_6909.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_6919.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_6930.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And we also walked by several creatures who were just hanging out and waiting for the fish to come to them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_6933.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We knew we were on the second floor when we <a href=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/2025\/10\/19\/breakfast-at-simply-maries-and-the-the-walk-to-the-national-aquarium-in-baltimore-md\/\">could see people on the other side of the tank.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_6940.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The path ended at the first floor, where we found ourselves looking up at the same coral reef  that we&#8217;d been looking down at when we&#8217;d entered the exhibit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_6954.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_8867.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When we exited the exhibit, we thought that was the whole aquarium.
