Eric was pleased to see that they also sold fins, so we were able to replace Keith’s broken fins. Christi stayed behind to get Kosmos ready to go to sea. The boat store was only 5 miles away. On the way there, traffic was bad due to school drop off, so it took an hour. But it only took 15-minutes to get back.

As soon as Eric and Keith returned, we finished getting the boat ready to go and untied from the dock at about 1010. The narrow channel between the pylons was still anxiety inducing, but since It was a higher tide than when we came in, there was less anxiety about crossing the shallow area. After we’d left, we realized that we’d forgotten to take the trash off the boat, which was a super bummer since we were going back to the national park and would not be able to dispose of trash for a while.

It was a sunny day with scattered clouds and about 7-knots of wind on the starboard beam, making for relatively calm seas and a pleasant ride. We averaged in the low 6s at 1650 RPM. We arrived to Shroud Cay at about 1630 and anchored in the southern anchorage.

Here was a map showing how far we’d gone today.

It was rolly, so Eric put out the port side flopper stopper. Shroud looked protected on paper but it always seemed to be rolly. Christi went to work on cooking dinner while Eric went to work on epoxying the damaged spots on the bottom of the dinghy. Since we were going to be leaving again first thing in the morning, we weren’t going to bother getting the dinghy down today. The epoxy would have plenty of time to cure before we took the dinghy down again. Eric’s back was still not feeling good and the epoxy work did not help.

When we last saw Tiki Tour, they were on their way to pick up friends that had flown in to visit them. We had picked up some groceries for them in Nassau, and had coordinated to meet them in Shroud to deliver the groceries. Two of the Tiki crew stopped by to get their groceries, and we had a short visit with them. Christi was sad to report that the sunset was completely blocked by clouds on the horizon, but the sky turned pretty colors.

On Thursday morning, we got up at 0615. The half-full moon was emitting a tremendous amount of light, even after dawn had begun.

It was a colorful dawn and sunrise.

As we enjoyed the morning colors, we brought in the paravane and tidied up, then pulled up anchor at 0700. We’ve mentioned before that we’ve been having issues once in a while with the anchor not situating itself properly so that the windlass could bring it up over the bow onto the roller. Usually, it’ll correct itself after a couple of tries, but today we had a harder time getting the anchor all the way up. Eric thinks the swivel was getting stuck and is going to try to lubricate it.

We arrived to Warderick Wells at 1000. We anchored in the same place we had when we came here the first time, just south of The Horseshoe. It was a bit rolly, so Eric put out a flopper stopper. Keith got ready to go snorkeling.
