The wind had shifted again, and it was a little rolly in the anchorage this morning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

While Eric was outside this morning, he saw an OC Tender with a fast motor go by. He stopped the guy and chatted with him about how the hull performs with the bigger engine. The guy mentioned that someone in the anchorage had a gas engine for sale. Eric went over to his boat to test the motor and potentially buy it. After looking at it, Eric realized it probably would not fit in the space we had on the top deck. Eric realized that we’d have to reconfigure the chalks to make a bigger engine work. Plus, only the motor was for sale — he’d have to procure the gas tank and other parts, and it was questionable whether we could get the parts here. He realized that getting a new engine would have to wait until we were in a marina in the US. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We decided to move to Staniel Cay<\/a> proper because it had better protection from this wind direction and we wanted to be closer to town. We’d sometimes struggled <\/a>to get to town<\/a> with the 3 hp motor; we didn’t think the 1.5 hp <\/a>would be able to make it against the strong currents. As many times as we’ve been to the Staniel area, we’d never before considered anchoring at the town itself due to the excessive amount of fast tourist boat traffic that goes in and out of Staniel all day — and the massive amount of wakes they create. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since it was such a short distance, we towed the dinghy. We pulled up anchor at around 1245 and were anchored in the new spot by 1320. The view from our new spot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was actually notably calmer at Staniel than it had been in Big Major — in between wakes. But, we’d been right about all the consistent traffic making it rolly. We noted that they were dredging along the shore. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All three of us went to lunch at the Yacht Club. They were feeding the sharks fish scraps again<\/a>, and there were a lot of them hovering around the table where they cleaned the fish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After lunch, we dropped Keith off at Kosmos. Eric and Christi took the dinghy over to the yellow market.<\/a> Here was a photo of the channel looking towards the airport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, we had seen a Tiki Boat — AKA a floating bar<\/a> that was about to be launched. We had been looking forward to utilizing it this season and had wondered why it wasn’t operating. We saw the Tiki boat tied to a dock in the channel. We still didn’t know why it wasn’t operating, but at least now we knew where it had gone!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were pleased to report that the store was better stocked this time. We didn’t need much, but it had what we needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not long after Eric and Christi returned, the family on Tiki Tour <\/a>(not to be confused with the booze boat) invited us to join them for dinner at the Yacht Club, so we wound up having two meals there. Fynn from Tiki came over and hung out until it was time to go to shore. We had a very nice visit with them. Playing pool while waiting for our food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here was Kosmos at dusk, taken from the Yacht Club as we were getting ready to get into our dinghy and head back. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once it was dark, the fast boat traffic died (for the most part) and the anchorage became very calm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
