The weather has not turn tropical yet, as we are still well north of the Tropic of Cancer.

Speaking of weather, we like to get messages from Bob. Bob is at OMNI weather and we have hired his services to help guide us to Nuka Hiva. Bob ends his e-mail with “Watching, updating.” And tell you what, that makes us feel really good. Hi Bob! Thanks for your updates.

The gray cloud cover finally passed after 3 days. Back before the Global Position System (GPS) satellites we would a bit eager to get a celestial fix with our sextant to validate our dead reckoning. But these days a host of electronic goodies help us automate the more mundane navigational tasks, and the old ways are merely backups. We are pretty sure we could live without Bob, radar, GPS, and the host of other goodies. But they are sure nice to have, and they help us relax.

We have some French language lessons we are going to start listening to (thanks Jim V!), and it just may be about time to break out Legends of Zelda Twilight Princess. We have been snacking mostly on various easy things to get. But we did treat ourselves to rack of lamb last night. Yum! Thanks Mom and Dad.

And the parting observation today is: The air is really fresh out here and the blue of the ocean is startling. All and all, it is peaceful and adventurous at the same time.

Day 4 San Diego to Nuka Hiva Position: N26-24.41, W 120-49.26 (417 miles from San Diego) at 0008 UTC Speed and direction: 5.6 knots, 207 degrees true.
