On Saturday morning we arrived at Panama. We did the usual settling in process, then went to go eat something. But in Panama, breakfast really isn\u2019t a thing, so there weren\u2019t any restaurants open. So we just went back to the boat and had some eggs. We checked into the port captain and immigration, then went ate at a restaurant. Mom\u2019s food choices were limited because almost everything had black pepper, and my food was okay. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_6802-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">This restaurant had cute decorations, but the food wasn&#8217;t good<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette semaine il s\u2019est pass\u00e9 beaucoup de choses. Samedi on est arriv\u00e9 au Panama. On s\u2019est install\u00e9, et apr\u00e8s on a essay\u00e9 de manger quelque chose. Mais au Panama, il n\u2019y a pas de petit d\u00e9jeuner, donc nous avons mang\u00e9 sur le bateau. Nous avons fait l\u2019\u00e9migration et on s\u2019est enregistr\u00e9 aupr\u00e8s du capitaine du port. Apr\u00e8s \u00e7a nous avons trouv\u00e9 quelque chose \u00e0 manger. Maman ne pouvait pas manger beaucoup parce que toutes choses avaient du poivre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/bird-serenading-us-2.mov\"><\/video><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">This bird chirped almost the whole meal!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>We ate dinner at a restaurant closer to the marina, but mom\u2019s stomach wasn\u2019t feeling great so she didn\u2019t have anything.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_6853-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Nous avons mang\u00e9 le d\u00eener \u00e0 un restaurant proche de la marina, et l\u2019estomac de maman lui faisait mal donc elle n\u2019a pas mang\u00e9.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_6529.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">View of the causeway at night<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Sunday, we went out to eat for lunch at a Colombian restaurant, then walked around a nature preserve close to our marina. It was really boring. We ate at a really good pizza place for dinner.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_6921-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">watching the turtles swim<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Dimanche, nous avons mang\u00e9 \u00e0 un restaurant Colombien, et apr\u00e8s nous nous sommes promen\u00e9s dans une r\u00e9serve naturelle proche de la marina. C\u2019\u00e9tait tr\u00e8s ennuyant. On a mang\u00e9 \u00e0 une tr\u00e8s bonne pizzeria pour le d\u00eener.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_6922.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">outside the butterfly exhibit<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Monday dad had his heart set on going to a Japanese restaurant, so we went to one. It was in a big food court with a central bar. Me and Mom\u2019s stomachs weren\u2019t feeling great, so we didn\u2019t have much food.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_6945.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Excited about leftover pizza!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Lundi papa voulait manger dans un restaurant Japonais, donc on y a \u00e9t\u00e9. C\u2019\u00e9tait dans une aire de restauration avec un bar central. Mon estomac et celui de maman \u00e9taient douloureux, donc on n\u2019a pas mang\u00e9 beaucoup.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_6805-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">This sign was near the Colombian restaurant<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Tuesday mom had an important video call, and dad and I revisited one of the restaurants we ate at before. Dad and I split a decaf marshmallow coffee (it was just a coffee milkshake). After that we had a cruiser kid come to visit. I played board games with him, which was pretty fun.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_6810-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Decorations in the marina<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Mardi maman avait un appel video important, et papa et moi avons remang\u00e9 au restaurant Colombien. Nous&nbsp; avons partag\u00e9 un caf\u00e9 d\u00e9caf\u00e9in\u00e9 au chamallow (c\u2019\u00e9tait juste un milkshake en caf\u00e9). Apr\u00e8s \u00e7a un enfant de matelot nous a rendu visite. J\u2019ai jou\u00e9 \u00e0 des jeux de soci\u00e9t\u00e9 avec lui, ce qui \u00e9tait plut\u00f4t amusant.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_6997-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><a href=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/2025\/09\/21\/the-uss-torsk-submarine-and-the-chesapeake-lightship-museums-in-baltimore-md\/\">The Fresnal lens<\/a> was innovative lighthouse technology of the era<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Wednesday we went to the Panama Canal museum in old Panama. The museum was boring but old Panama is pretty.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_7051-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Exhibit in the Panama Canal museum<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Mercredi nous sommes all\u00e9s au mus\u00e9e du Canal de Panama dans le vieu Panama. Le mus\u00e9e \u00e9tait ennuyant, mais le vieu Panama \u00e9tait beau.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_5365-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Then we went to eat at a restaurant nearby. The waiter said nothing had black pepper, but it turns out he was full of crap. Mom still got a good meal, though. My sandwich was really good, and I had a piece of red velvet cake for desert.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/PXL_20250117_150505951.MP2_-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On a mang\u00e9 \u00e0 un restaurant proche du mus\u00e9e. Le serveur disait que rien n\u2019avait de poivre, mais il ne disait pas la v\u00e9rit\u00e9. a quand m\u00eame mang\u00e9 quelque chose de bon. Mon sandwich \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s bon, et j\u2019ai mang\u00e9 un morceau de g\u00e2teau \u00ab&nbsp;red velvet&nbsp;\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_7194-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday we did some training in preparation for the canal crossing. We took a break from that to eat at a Mediterranean restaurant which wasn\u2019t very good. The service took soooo long and the food wasn\u2019t that good.&nbsp;We had frozen yogurt after.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_6486.mov\"><\/video><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">These critters are all over the parking lot at La Playita marina<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Jeudi nous avons fait les pr\u00e9parations pour la travers\u00e9 du canal. On a fait une pause et mang\u00e9 \u00e0 un restaurant M\u00e9diterran\u00e9en qui n\u2019\u00e9tait pas tr\u00e8s bon. Le service a dur\u00e9 longtemps, et la nourriture n\u2019\u00e9tait pas tr\u00e8s bonne non plus. Puis on a mang\u00e9 un yaourt glac\u00e9.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_6953-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">We ate at this frozen yogurt place several times. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Today (Friday) some friends flew in to serve as line handlers for the Panama Canal crossing. Mom had another call, so we all went sightseeing without her. We ate at a restaurant. It took us three tries to find a good one. The first restaurant was really fancy and expensive, plus the waiters didn\u2019t seem to like us in our T-shirts and shorts. The second restaurant didn\u2019t have anything we liked (I think, I didn\u2019t get the gist of why we left), but the third restaurant was really good. They specialized in gourmet churros, but they also had burgers and sandwiches.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kosmos.liveflux.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/PXL_20250117_142048133-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Brianna, Jan, Eric, Keith, Mike, Kim<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Vendredi des amis ont vol\u00e9 au Panama pour nous guider avec des cordes pour la travers\u00e9e du canal. Maman avait un autre appel, donc on a vu les vues sans elle. On a mang\u00e9 \u00e0 un restaurant. On a fait trois essais pour trouver un bon restaurant. Le premier \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s cher, et les serveurs n\u2019aimaient pas nos t-shirts et shorts. Le deuxi\u00e8me restaurant n\u2019avait rien que l\u2019on aimait (je crois, je ne sais pas vraiment pourquoi on est parti), mais le troisi\u00e8me restaurant \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s bon.
