Is Kosmos done yet? No, but a white haired fellow walking by proclaimed “That is the most seaworthy boat I have ever seen in my life!” Here is what he saw:
The smokestack is up. The rigging for the paravanes and boom are much more complete. The windlass (electric motor that hauls up the anchor) was finished and anchor attached. The windlass and hatches have their gray canvas covers. Here is another picture of the paravane rigging:
And I am not sure why, but this picture looking up at the top of the mast looks like a piece of modern art to us:
We are happy to report the inside has been cleared of almost all the construction clutter as well. There are still more things to add and setup, but we are getting close. Bonus points to anyone who can tell us from the pictures what is missing.
Once again we had enjoyable and interesting visits with other owners. Transferring knowledge and thoughts is a great way to learn about these amazing vessels.
We particularity enjoyed time with the crew of another 43. They are the nicest people and we really enjoy spending time with them. They make a great pizza.
And a final shot as the sun was hanging low in the sky and Kosmos casts her shadow on the water.
She’s looking great! Though, I admit, I have no idea what’s missing from the photo. A crow’s nest?
Interesting guess, but nope. I will wait a bit longer and see if there are any guesses. It is certainly something tricky to see, and probably only other people with boats would be able to tell. There are a couple things out of place. Notice a cover leaning by the smokestack behind the radar. And the horn is not mounted at the moment.
Eric & Christi,
Kosmos is looking better and better every weekend we walk by. I’m sure you can’t wait to take it home. Congratulations!

Eric & Christi,
Congratulations on Kosmos! We have recently discovered Nordhavn and are considering a 43 or 47 for ourselves. I’m looking forward to visiting your site frequently. Is it the tender/dinghy that’s missing? Best of luck in your upcoming adventures!
Mark & Kristie Bonds
Welcome to the site Mark and Kristie! If you have any questions, let us know. Both the 43 and 47 are great boats.
The missing items are the Single Side Band (SSB) radio antenna, and the Very High Frequency (VHF) radio antenna. They are pretty tall at 23 feet. They should be up soon.
Good guess on the dinghy. We have a dinghy, but for now we are going to keep it in deflated in the lazarette. We are thinking about a hard dinghy at some point, perhaps one that can be used as a sailboat. So technically you are right for our big plan. 🙂
