We had this idea giving people a “Welcome Aboard Card” when they come aboard Kosmos. The card’s purpose is to orient people on some important topics. The answers will be on the back of the card, and you will have to come aboard to get the answers. Boat savvy people will know some of the answers, but some are completely specific to Kosmos. We have more detailed plans and info for crew, but we figure this card helps us for the many short trips we hope to take with friends and family. Below is the card:
Welcome aboard Kosmos!
This is your welcome aboard card. It is yours to keep while aboard.
We are happy to have you as our guest. We want to make sure you are safe and comfortable. In preparation for your stay on our boat, we ask that you be able to answer some questions. We will give you a short orientation so you can answer the questions.
1. Where are the fire extinguishers?
2. Where are the radios?
3. What is the emergency radio channel to call for help?
4. How does the main radios’ distress buttons work?
5. What can I flush down the toilets?
6. Where do I put trash?
7. Where are the floatation devices?
8. Where is the medical kit?
9. Where is the basic toolkit?
10. What happens if someone falls overboard?
11. How do I prevent motion sickness?
12. What help do Christi and Eric need?
What do you think?
Can anyone guess how many fire extinguisher units we have aboard?
What a great idea! I’ve never heard of someone doing this. Very smart!
That’s a very good idea. All your questions are important to sail on high sea. With this ideas you will have more active visitors with competitiv questions and … advises for your future trips and – also advises for new interest NH customers. The point is, to train peaople for sea trips. I know this, than I crossed the North-and South Atlantic six times with a sailboat. The sea is not every time flat. Have every time a look to swimming containers and sleeping wales!!!
Eric, I am in contact with NH-UK, and I learn a lot of new things about your boat. I will take some your ideas and will trasfer to my vision boat.
Question, do you have an advise for a Mac computer nautical program like MacSea? This program is only for PC.
Have fun –
Peter (Germany)
Peter I think your best bet is to run a PC based program on your Mac:

One of the Nordhavn UK staff was in Dana Point while we were commissioning. Say hi from Eric for me. 🙂
Peter here is a Mac nav program:
