Thursday, September 15: Here is a sunrise photo of the island that protects this bay.
And a photo of the other boats in the anchorage as the sun was rising.
Yesterday, shortly after we arrived, Kosmos was surrounded by a giant school of little fish that stayed for the rest of the day. The school was back again and they stayed all day.
We spent the day doing chores. In the late afternoon, the cruisers had a potluck party to celebrate Mexican Independence Day. Mexican Independence Day is actually on the 16th, but one of the cruisers is a native Mexican, and she explained that the tradition is to start the party the night before. She made a traditional Mexican meal, called Sopas, that was phenomenal.
Sunset
Once it started to get dark, we lit a bonfire.
On Friday, Eric finally felt motivated to work on the water leak. He’s hoping that this time, it is fixed for good.
Our cruisers’ social started in the mid-afternoon. We all took our dinghies into shore. The kids played on the platforms while the adults sat in the water and talked. Here is Eric in the dinghy as the sun was setting.
Once it started to get dark, there was another bonfire. When we got back to Kosmos, we realized we’d left a light on inside. Our boat was covered in these bugs, especially near the windows where the light shone through.
Haha, nice bug pics. Harmless! Hopefully Keith likes bugs? Beautiful sunsets, I’m so curious how you figure out which boats have cool people to visit and which have the solitary pirate to avoid?
