Sunrise on Thursday, December 1. Sometimes the clouds made the sunrises and sunsets extra dramatic; sometimes the clouds just blocked the light.
Check out the fish around our boat.
Eric had done some online searching, and found the family that we’d missed in La Paz. They happened to to be nearby, so they came to our anchorage to meet us. Eric and Keith went to shore to meet the family. Since Christi was still not feeling good and didn’t want to pass on her germs, she stayed aboard and rested.
The family came to shore with their dog. A tour operator running the camping tour group told them that dogs weren’t allowed on Isla Partida, so one of the parents returned the dog to the boat while the kids played on the beach and swam. After the kids were tired from swimming, Keith and Eric went to their boat for a bit.

Here’s another video of fish around the boat
Our new friends left first thing in the morning to go someplace where they could take their dog to shore. We told them we’d follow them after we went hiking. Here was the view of the anchorage from the beach. The campers were all gone.
We were all ready to start hiking!
At first the trail was dirt and some rocks.
Looking back at the beach from early on in the hike
Not too far up, it became almost all rocks. Some were small and loose and easy to slip on, some were quite large and we had to scramble over them. We would have never been able to figure out the trail if there weren’t trail markers.
Since this ravine was much wider than the one at Ensenada de Candelero, we couldn’t get close-up views of the geologically interesting cliff walls. The rocks in the ravine all looked like they had broken off the cliffs above and fallen down. There were pretty views of the bay for part of the hike. We could see Kosmos from many of the viewpoints!
Eventually the trail turned and we could only see the ravine and cliffs.
After about a half-hour, we turned around and made our way back to shore. Shot of Kosmos in the anchorage with the estuary in the foreground.
Here is a close up of the cliff at the south end of the beach.
We headed back to Kosmos and got her ready for sea. At around 1400 (2:00 pm) we lifted anchor and headed for…
