Recovering from the Passage in Marsh Harbor, Abacos, Bahamas

Wednesday, November 19, 2025 — It usually takes us a few days to recover from the disrupted sleep cycles during passages. This morning, we woke up feeling like our body clocks were back to normal. While Eric was still in pain, his back did feel a little better. Knowing he was on the mend made him optimistic that he’d fully recover relatively soon. Sunrise.

In the morning, we did school and chores. In the afternoon, we went back to Snappas for lunch. Snappas also had beautiful views. The menu had a page explaining its history. It had opened in 2002, and was destroyed by a hurricane in 2004. In 2005, it reopened and was destroyed by Hurricane Dorian in 2019. It reopened again in 2023. The food was good, but we thought that Colors had better food, more food choices, and was better value for money.

The twilight was colorful.

On Thursday, we had a colorful dawn and sunrise.

Thursday was much the same as Wednesday. We did chores and school in the morning/early afternoon. In the late afternoon, we went out to eat. This time, we went to a restaurant called The Jib Room on the north side of the harbor. It also looked brand, with an attached marina with new looking, sturdy, tall fixed docks.

This place had the nicest dinghy dock of all. The dinghy dock was at water level, with a ladder to climb up to the taller docks. It was much easier to climb up and down the ladder to/from a solid surface than to/from a wobbly dinghy.

Like Colors and Snappas, the views were beautiful. Given Christi’s allergy to peppercorn, most restaurants can only make seafood, steaks or burgers for her. Usually, anything with a sauce is a no go. But interestingly, the only thing that The Jib Room had without pepper was pizza. Finding pizza without pepper in the sauce was actually a bit unusual. Truth be told, the pizza was only so-so, but it was exciting for her to get something different. Eric and Keith liked their food, but we all agreed that Colors was the best overall restaurant in terms of choices, food quality, and portion size. It was another beautiful twilight.

After dinner, we went for a very short walk in the area near the restaurant to stretch our legs. The spit of land the restaurant was on was narrow. It was literally a few steps between the bay and ocean. This is the same bird in each photo. The first photo was looking at the bay from the entrance to the restaurant, the other the ocean from one step behind the bird.

We saw this cute little guy while we were walking around.

Here was Eric descending the ladder down to the dinghy dock.

And approaching Kosmos

It was another quiet night aboard.
