Tuesday, December 23, 2025 continued… At 1300, we went to shore to go on a hike to the ocean side of the island with three other families. We landed the dinghy on the beach. As we started on the trail, one of the other kids asked Keith why he wasn’t wearing a swimsuit since they were going swimming in the ocean. Eric volunteered to go back to Kosmos for Keith’s swim suit. He said he’d be a few minutes behind us. This was the trailhead.

The group followed the narrow hiking rail. The foliage all along the trail was a bit overgrown, but the trail was marked with debris along the way so we knew we were on the correct path. Being a limestone island, the ground all along the way was uneven and dotted with erosion holes. The hike up was mostly through spindly trees.

Being that it was a tiny island, it was a relatively short hike up to the peak in the center of the island.

The hike down to the ocean side of the island was mostly through bushes.

The trail let out on a lovely beach.

Looking south.

The person leading the group turned north and marched up a rocky area to another bigger, nicer beach.

The kids wearing swimsuits immediately ran to the ocean and began playing in the waves. There was no cell service, so they couldn’t contact Eric to tell him to go to the northern beach. Christi and Keith were worried that Eric wouldn’t find them, so they went back to the trail head to wait for Eric.

When he arrived, Keith changed and joined the other kids in the ocean.

The kids had a blast and the parents had a nice time visiting. This was a shot of the group marching back to the trailhead once the kids were finally done playing.

This was a shot of the shoreline to the north of the beach where we’d landed the dinghies, on the protected side of the island. One of the parents had found the hat on the ocean side of the beach and had given it to Christi.

In the evening, Keith went over to Tiki Tour and watched Home Alone with some of the same families who had gone to the beach. This was the dusk.
