Caleta San Juanico, Day 4

Sunrise on Saturday, October 22. The crescent moon was again shining brilliantly as the sun rose under it.

Eric was pleased to report that he was now 100% back to normal. In the morning, we went for a hike. We were hoping to complete our hike before it got hot. We landed the dinghy on the beach where the RVs were. Here are a couple shots of the anchorage taken from a couple of different spots on the beach.

One of the campers pointed out there was a turtle nest. Some environmentalists had covered and marked it to protect the eggs from being stepped on/dug up by other animals. She said the environmentalists came daily to check on it.

We followed the dirt road that the campers had driven in on. A burro followed us.

At the fork in the road, we turned north, which would take us to another anchorage called La Ramada, and then on to the houses on top of the hill. The south fork would eventually lead to the highway. The burro abandoned us shortly after we passed the fork in the road.

As we followed the road up the hill, we were surprised at how green it was, and even more surprised at the large number of flowers in bloom.

The La Ramada anchorage was lovely. We were not surprised to see it was empty since it didn’t provide much protection from the current wind direction.

We didn’t continue on to the houses; it was too hot. We headed back to Kosmos. Here is a picture taken while walking back.

In the afternoon, we did chores. Eric cleaned the bottom, which is a task he normally doesn’t like to do. But the water was so clear at that moment that he didn’t mind.

Unfortunately, the wind shifted and it became rolly in the afternoon. That made us lethargic. Here is the sunset.

It was an uncomfortable night, so we didn’t sleep well. But in good news, It cooled down enough that night that we slept with blankets!
