Day 2 in The Bight Bay, Cat Island, Bahamas

On Wednesday morning, as predicted, the wind picked up and moved to the southeast, but the anchorage was still comfortable and it was pleasant to be onboard. This was just before sunrise.

The nice thing about the cooler water was that it slowed down the growth on the bottom and waterline (compared to the warmer waters in Panama), but it still needed to be regularly done. Eric donned a full wetsuit and did water line with our battery operated waterproof scrubber tool.

At around noon, we dinghied to shore to see about getting lunch at the resort.

From the outside, the resort appeared to be a series of small, separate bungalows painted cheerful colors.

The restaurant was even cuter on the inside. It looked like it was out a decorator magazine.

The restaurant normally required reservations. The lady who ran the restaurant said they could serve us in about 45-minutes. Today they had three meal choices: Cornish hen, mahi or cracked conch (whole conch that is battered and deep fried). Eric texted the rest of the group. Three other couples said they wanted to join us, so we made reservations for nine.

We chose to eat on the covered patio, enjoying the view of the beautiful anchorage and our boats. Eric ordered the mahi, which was served as breaded fish sticks and tasted great. Christi ordered the conch, primarily because she was curious to know if conch was normally chewy. This conch was tender and delicious. The chef said the secret to the tenderness was to beat it really well. Keith ordered the Cornish hen. He was disappointed at how small it was. Given how much he eats these days, we should have ordered him three.

We had a lovely time with our cruiser friends.

After lunch, Eric and Keith played D & D on one of the boats. In the evening, Eric went to shore for another social gathering. Keith stayed onboard to do a video call with a friend from home that had been previously scheduled. Christi stayed aboard because she was in the middle of baking.

Eric had a great time. They departed not long after sunset.
