Welcome to Annapolis, Maryland

continued… Once Kosmos was situated, we quickly took showers and go ready to go out. After three days onboard, we were excited to walk around onshore, especially in a new town. It could be tricky to get on and off the boat with fixed docks, so Eric had set up a line to give us extra leverage.

The marina seemed to be small.

There was a yacht club next door.

Across the street, it appeared to be residential housing.

Th bathrooms for the marina were on the ground floor of this building, which was on the edge of the parking lot.

We walked out to the street, called Compromise Street, and turned northwest, towards the town center. On our right, the east side of the street, was surrounded by temporary chain link fencing. There were a lot of tents erected and we could see there was a non-stop flurry of activity as people/vehicles went in and out of the fenced areas. Traffic was backed up with a conga line of vehicles.

Compromise Street ended at an oddly angled intersection. We could see the road to the west that probably paralleled Compromise Street was fenced off. Police seemed to be controlling which cars went in and out.

We crossed over to the north side of the intersection, which appeared to be a cluster of historic buildings. According to Maps, the first one we passed, called The Market, was a restaurant, so we went in. Actually, according to Maps, we’d already passed a few restaurants along the way, but we apparently hadn’t noticed them in and amongst all the activity.

Eric had been craving pizza, so he was happy to see they had pizza – but not today. It sounded like it was the pizza chef’s day off. The food was great. We know Keith looks unhappy in the photo, but he was just tired from the lack of sleep. We were actually looking forward to be in the middle of the boat show excitement.

It looked like The Market was one of several restaurants clustered together. Here were some photos of the others.

We noticed that the area fenced off to cars was open to pedestrian traffic, and we saw an ice cream shop over there, so we got ice cream for dessert. That hit the spot! Due to the fencing/traffic, we couldn’t get a photo of the outside, but it was just as cute outside as inside.

With all the activity, it was difficult to walk around. Plus, we were tired, so we went back to the boat and laid low for the rest of the day.  As the moon rose during twilight, it was incredible! It was so bright that it didn’t look real!
