Another FFX Murder Mystery, Virginia Beach Ocanfront Art and Dinner at Cantina Laredo

Sunday, July 20 — Keith had enjoyed the FFX murder mystery show so much that he asked if we could go back again this week (the murder mystery show was every Sunday at 1400 and it was a different mystery every week). In the morning, Eric and Keith went over to Miss Roxy’s to play D & D, while Christi went over to Karen’s. When we planned this, Eric and Keith had figured that there would be lots of time between D & D ending and the show starting. We’d planned that Christi would pick them up after D & D and we’d have a leisurely lunch before the show. The D & D session was intense that the session ran long. Miss Roxy ordered lunch in so they could eat while they played, and we were ten minutes late to the FFX show. But fortunately, they didn’t start without us.

Last time, the show’s theme was Wild West. This time, it was Superheroes. Like last time, they passed out character sheets and clues about what we should ask the other characters about. There were more people in attendance this week than last week, and they ran out of characters. Karen and Mark didn’t get characters, which was disappointing for them. They were invited to partake in solving the mystery, but without clues, they had no idea what kinds of questions to ask the other participants, so they gave up on participating early on.

The story was a little more complex and convoluted than the one last week. We suspect that was because there were more characters, but we’d say solving this one was even more fun than last week’s. Last week, the majority of us had identified the correct murderer by the time the suspects were called to the stage, but this time most of us were still baffled at that point. Christi and Keith were both prime suspects.

But in the end, neither were the killer. Then they called the children onto the stage to find the hidden lair of the Supervillain that the killer had murdered on behalf of.

Group photos at the end. We made plans to meet up with Karen and her family again for dinner.

We’ve noticed that Virginia Beach Oceanfront has a lot of large murals on the sides of buildings. And these are cool murals, not at all creepy like the ones in West Palm Beach.

This was the sunset. The photo was taken near where we had dinner.

We ate dinner in an area called Town Center of Virginia Beach, which was a cluster of high density buildings. It had a downtown, urban feel to it. This photo was taken from the same spot that the photo above was taken from, as we were nearing the Town Center complex.

There was a parking garage that was free near the restaurant, so parking was easy. The restaurant was called Cantina Laredo and was on the second floor of this tower.

After dinner, we went to a nearby shop called Gelati, which sold ice cream, not gelato. Everyone liked the food and loved the ice cream.
