This morning we went back to the bakery as soon as we got up. We had already eaten all our Danish and wanted more. To our delight, they also had chocolate croissants and banana tarts. The banana tarts had a layer of mashed banana, a layer of pudding, and a layer of meringue. Yumm. It is quite possible that bakeries are the best thing in the world.
On the way back from the bakery we stopped by another neighboring boat, Patagonia, and visited with them for a while. They are a family with two kids in their late teens/early 20’s. The dad mentioned he had not seen a movie in two years. We immediately invited them over for movies and popcorn that night. We didn’t tell them that we watch a movie almost every night in our little home theater in our bedroom.
When we got back to Kosmos, we realized that our wet suits had blown away. Darn it. We had hung them on the back of the boat to dry and thought they were protected from the wind. Guess not protected enough.
We went back to the restaurant for lunch. This time Eric had the raw fish Tahitian Style, which is in coconut milk with shredded carrots, and Christi had coconut crusted fish. Both were really good. There were two guys at the table next to us that looked like they were ready to leave. They asked us where we were from. Then they asked if we had sailed over. We replied we had come on a power boat. One of the guys lit up and said “I want to buy a Nordhavn!”. They came and sat with us while we ate. Of course, talking about Nordhavns is Eric’s favorite topic of conversation. We talked about the pros and cons of each model and it turns out he already has one in mind that he is seriously considering buying. When we were done eating, we invited them to come and see our boat later in the evening.
During lunch, a small boat took off. These dogs ran into the water, chasing after the boat. They swam a ways to a coral reef before giving up the chase. They stood on the reef howling at the long gone boat. It was hilarious.
After lunch, we stopped by Special Blend for a few minutes to say hi. Then we searched the shore for our lost wet suits. We knew it was a futile effort, but we felt better about ourselves by at least trying. The shoreline looked like dirt from the boat, but it turned out to be a dark colored lava rock shelf, with no loose rocks at all. The lava rock was jagged, uneven, sharp and rough, with the turquoise lagoon water lapping up against the edge of it. There was coral in the water paralleling the shore the entire stretch we walked. Even if our wetsuits had blown to the shore, they would probably have been damaged by the rock and coral. We looked for a couple of miles and finally gave up and headed back to the boat.
Shortly after returning from Kosmos, our new friends from the restaurant came by for a couple of hours and Eric worked on selling them a boat. Dan, you can send the commission to our home address. As they were leaving, the family from Patagonia arrived for movie night. They flipped over the movie selections. It was a fun time.
Alright, we’re going to need to hear what movies you watched. Fess up!
Wow! You guys are having an amazing time abroad! I really think they should start giving you a commission check!
