Caleta Partida to Ensenada del Candelero on Isla Espiritu Santo

Sunrise on Monday December 5

We pulled up anchor at about 0910 and headed to Ensenada del Candelero on Isla Espiritu Santo, located only two bays south of Caleta Partida. It only took 30 minutes to get there. Shortly after leaving, we rolled up 7,000 hours on the engine.

Here was the view of the anchorage as we came in.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t as calm as Caleta Partida had been, so Eric put out a flopper stopper.

Oceananigans arrived at around 1500 (3:00 pm). Keith immediately went over to their boat to play with the kids. Meanwhile, Eric and Christi wanted to enjoy dry land, so they went to shore. They climbed the cliff that divided the two beaches and sat and enjoyed the view for a while.

Looking inland

Does anyone know what kind of bird this is? It’s noise caught our attention.

After they felt like they’d enjoyed enough terra firma, Christi and Eric also went over to Oceananigans to visit. The moon was close to full and glowing brightly even while the sun was high in the sky. We’re glad we got a photo of it when we did. Shortly after this photo was taken, the ominous dark grey cloud seen in the photos above and below rolled in over us and completely blocked the moon and stars for the rest of the evening.
