This week has been… well, painful is the wrong word. Maybe… interesting would be the right word, I guess? On Saturday, we arrived in Washington DC. All we did was rest for the whole day except for going out to dinner. We went to a really good Mexican fusion restaurant, then we had these things called “Chimney Cakes” for dessert. 

Cette semaine était… douloureuse mais c’est pas le bon mot. Peut être… intéressante c’est le bon mot. Samedi nous sommes arrivés à Washington DC. On s’est reposé pour toute la journée sauf quand on est sorti pour manger le dîner. Nous avons mangé à un restaurant de fusion Mexican, puis nous avons mangé des choses qui s’appellent des “Chimney Cakes” pour le dessert. 

On Sunday, we went to the Spy Museum. It was really cool. I learned that there is a way to shrink a large amount of words into a tiny dot, and it can be read with a microscope. After the spy museum, we walked a little bit of the national mall with our friends from Blue Heeler. 

Dimanche nous sommes allés au musée de l’espionnage. C’était très cool. J’ai appris qui il y a un moyen pour réduire beaucoup de mots dans un petit point et tu peux le lire avec un microscope. Après le musée de l’espionnage nous avons marché au National Mall avec Blue Heeler. 

On Monday, we went to the Air and Space museum. I was kind of bored, but Dad liked it. I learned that there was a small communications glitch when Neil Armstrong first walked on the moon, so a lot of people got the wording of his famous quote wrong. 

Lundi nous sommes allés au musée de l’aéronautique. Je me suis ennuyé, mais papa a bien aimé. J’ai appris qu’il y avait un problème de communication quand Neil Armstrong a marché sur le lune, donc beaucoup de personnes n’ont pas compris les bons mots de sa citation. 

On Tuesday, we went to the Library Of Congress. I have one thing to say about it: BORING!!! I learned that Thomas Jefferson donated the first books to the library. We also played D&D with Blue Heeler. 

Mardi, nous sommes allés à la bibliothèque du Congrès. J’ai une chose à dire: ennuyant! J’ai appris que c’est Thomas Jefferson qui a donné les premiers livres à la bibliothèque. Nous avons aussi joué à D&D avec Blue Heeler. 

On Wednesday, we went to the Postal Museum, which I liked a lot. I learned that airmail pilots have some of the most dangerous jobs in America. Back in the day, they had to fly in old airplanes through any sort of weather, including storms, and blizzards! So many people died in the job that they actually started calling it “The Suicide Club.” After that we went to lunch at Union Station, then played D&D with Blue Heeler. 

Mercredi nous sommes allés au musée de la poste. J’ai beaucoup aimé. J’ai appris que les pilotes des avions de la poste avaient un des plus dangereux métiers en Amérique. À l’époque, ils devaient piloter des anciens avions dans tous type de météo comme des tempêtes. Tellement de personnes ne survivaient pas qu’ils ont commencé à appeler le metier “Le Club du Suicide”. Après ça nous avons mangé à Union Stationi, puis nous avons joué à D&D avec Blue Heeler. 

On Thursday, we did the tour of Congress. The tour itself was very boring, but the tour guide was awesome and hilarious. I learned that the congressmen used to get into major fist fights during session. That’s one of the reasons why they put them in separate offices. 

Jeudi nous avons fait le tour du Congrès. Le tour était très ennuyant, mais le guide était génial et trop rigolo. J’ai appris que les membres du congrès avaient l’habitude de se battre à coup de poings pendant les sessions. C’est une des raisons pour laquelle ils sont dans des bureaux différents. 

On Friday, we went to Trawlerfest in Baltimore. Dad rented a car, and we drove there on our own. When we arrived, Dad went to the show while mom and I got breakfast at the Original Pancake House. It was totally different than the one in San Diego! After breakfast we went to one of the conference rooms. All three of us talked on an expert panel (well, I just sat there for two hours. I said 15 words at most during the entire panel, and that’s highballing it). After that, we drove back to the boat. 

Vendredi, nous sommes allés au Trawlerfest à Baltimore. Papa a loué une voiture, puis nous avons conduit là bas tout seul. Quand nous sommes arrivés papa est allé au spectacle pendant que maman et moi, on a mangé le petit déjeuner à la maison de pancakes originale. C’était très différent de celle de San Diego! Après le petit dejeuner nous sommes allés dans une des salles de conference. Nous avons tous les trois représenté le groupe des experts (ba je suis juste resté assis pendant deux heures. J’ai parlé 15 mots au maximum dans le panel entier). Après ça nous sommes revenus au bateau.
