More Socializing and Exploring in Annapolis

Sunday, October 12 — Yesterday, the area around the boat show was a zoo. When we went out for lunch, it seemed like all the restaurants had long lines. Wanting a quick meal, we decided to get lunch at The Fleet Reserve Club. The Fleet Reserve Club appeared to be a private yacht club that was very close to the marina. It was having a special boat show luncheon event. If we remembered correctly, the sign had said it was a fundraiser. But what drew us there was that we could see a steady stream of people entering the outdoor seating area with trays of food.

It was a cafeteria style buffet line. We got three hamburgers, a cup of soup and 2 bottles of water. The cashier was probably about 6-years old, and she was being supervised by an adult (we assumed it was her mom). We were pretty shocked when the little girl gave us the grand total of $52. The adult confirmed it was the correct total. The expensive, mediocre burgers made us feel like we were in The Bahamas again. But we did get exactly what we were looking for: a fast meal. We were in and out in only a few minutes. From the little we saw of the club, it looked like it was very nice.

Exploring Annapolis, MD

Friday, October 10, 2025 — Today was another social day. Eric worked at the Ocean Posse booth at the boat show all day. For lunch, he got a pizza at The Market, which was really good. In the evening, he went to a party hosted by Lagoon (Lagoon was a catamaran manufacturer — all the Ocean Posse volunteers had been invited to their party).

After Christi and Keith finished school, they walked to the Post Office, which was a little more than a half mile northwest. The town was darling. Here were some photos taken along the way. This was Duke of Gloucester Street.

Busy Social Days in Annapolis, MD

Dawn on Thursday, October 9, 2025

And while the moon wasn’t as dramatic this morning as it had been the previous few days, it was still striking.

Yesterday and today have been very social. Yesterday, Christi had lunch with a friend from college who currently lives about a half-hour away from Annapolis. The last time Christi and Katie had seen each other was when Christi was pregnant, so they had a lot to catch up on!

Replacing the Wing Engine Exhaust and Exploring Eastport in Annapolis, MD

Tuesday October 7 — The moon was just as amazing this morning as it was preparing to set as it had been last night shortly after it rose.

We’re sad to report that the marina was rolly and uncomfortable. It didn’t seem to have any protection from the direction that the wind and waves were coming from today. 🙁

When we were in Baltimore, we’d mentioned that Eric had bought a replacement part for the wing engine exhaust from a supplier in Annapolis, called Portside Marine. This morning, he hailed a ride share to go pick the part up, which was a short drive from our marina in Annapolis.
